OUR PROGRAMS
Extracurricular Activities
At SoliDEO Academy, we have no compulsory extracurricular activities. Students are free to choose any extracurricular activities from us or from SoliDEO Christian School (SCS) that suits their needs. Should your child have any interest and intend to join SCS' extracurricular activities, the school can relay and apply for students to join SCS's extracurricular activities, but parents will have to fund those activities directly to SCS administration.
School Provided Lunch
SoliDEO Academy emphasizes quite a lot of informal learning and practical life skills through our lunch time. That is why, we provided lunch for all our students in a big hope that we:
- Keep our students healthy through a well balanced diet
- Can give them a better insight on food varieties
- Practice them table manners while dining
- Practice them teamwork (and leadership) with older and younger people
- Practice them various life skills such as queuing up, cleaning, serving, etc
- Promote the spirit of serving others and be mindful of older and younger friends
Fun-day Short trips
During a quiet month (when there is no big event celebrated), we reward our students with a fun-day for the sake of.....Fun! Having fun boosts motivation, improves memory, reduces stress, and fosters a growth mindset. It also encourages creativity, problem solving skills, a lifelong love of learning, stronger neural connections leading to better recall of information, reduce stress, enhance social skills and understanding different perspectives and many more. We see having fun goes hand-in hand with learning and it's longevity.
1-Night spiritual retreat
SoliDEO Academy conducts 2-day-1 night spiritual retreat for all of our students. It's a fun way to grow spiritually, mentally and emotionally away from their own comfort zone at home, while enjoying the extra time to spend together with friends and teachers. Here teachers has the opportunity to see their students first hand, how they behave out of normal school hours such as how they behave when they're tired, how they tries to follow rules in a new short-term environment, etc.
As for the students, a good bonding with their peers and also teachers may worth a lot of school-learning-hours at a normal school settings as well as chances to understand their teachers better. Here students also get to learn and apply a lot of biblical aspect being emphasized through more games, simulation, teamwork, and many more. There are tons more that can be carved out of these activities as positive feedback to the teachers and holistic stimulation to the students overall growth.
reading TIME
We dedicate 20 minutes everyday for our students to read books before our academic learning started. It cultivated a lifelong love for books and learning. During this special time, students are encouraged to explore stories, discover new ideas, and strengthen their reading comprehension and vocabulary. It's a quiet and enjoyable moment in the day that helps children develop focus, imagination, and critical thinking skills. More than just improving literacy, our reading time inspires curiosity and creativity, laying a strong foundation for academic success and personal growth.
Entrepreneurship & charity fund raising
At SoliDEO Academy, we believe that entrepreneurship helps prepare children for the future. More than simply learning how to start a business, entrepreneurship develops important life skills such as creativity, problem-solving, resilience, leadership, and independent thinking.
By encouraging an entrepreneurial mindset, we help students discover and develop the talents that God has given them. These skills empower them to face challenges confidently and turn their ideas into meaningful opportunities.
Our students actively practice these values through a year-round Charity Fundraising Program, where they apply their creativity and teamwork to raise funds for disadvantaged children through World Vision Indonesia. This program involves students of all ages and encourages them to use their abilities not only for personal growth, but also to serve and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Non-digital games provided
Mostly people have heard games as activities to enhance student's engagement and experience towards the delivered material. What about pure games? You don't usually see them at schools, right? We do exactly that. We provide non-digital games such as card games, board games, etc. at school for students to use during their free time, whether is during break, or extra learning time after school, and many more.
We believe games in general provide opportunities for learning, exploration, and skill development in a playful way.
Playing games can also enhance:
- Resilience
- Creativity
- Problem-solving abilities
- Social skills
DAILY PRAYER ASSEMBLY
Once a day, on top of daily devotion time, we have student's prayer assembly, encourages them to build a personal relationship with God through prayer. Children learns to express gratitude, seek guidance, and find comfort in God's presence daily to strengthen their faith, teaches them to trust in God during both good and challenging times, and reminds them that they are never alone. It also helps shape good character by encouraging kindness, humility, and forgiveness. Most importantly, having a special time for prayer helps students develop a habit of putting God first in their daily lives. We hold our daily prayer assembly within student's homeroom to train students to do exactly that.
IN School & ex-school competitions
Competition is one of the important activity to encourage children to do their best, develop confidence, and learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Through healthy competition, students discover their strength, set goals, and learn how to handle both success and failure with a positive attitude. Competitions also motivate children to work hard, think creatively. and solve problems effectively. Beyond winning or losing, they teach, important lessons about sportsmanship, respect, and fair play. At SoliDEO Academy, we have various in-school and ex-school competitions throughout the year.
DISCIPLINE
SoliDEO Academy believes that discipline is the process of teaching our students what type of behaviour is acceptable and not acceptable, In other words, discipline teaches a child to follow rules. We implement the use of various useful routines and school rules, such as the completeness of uniforms, making lines, greetings, saying thank you, etc. to shape them to be discipline for future success.
In applying an effective discipline, SoliDEO Academy uses good balance of many different tools and methods, such as positive and negative reinforcement, modelling, positive and negative consequences and of course, through the hand of a loving and supportive family.
LONGER TIME SLOTS, ENJOYABLE LEARNING
At SoliDEO Academy, we want all of our students to enjoy their learning, Therefore we implemented:
Longer Devotion Time: Most of the school (if they have it) allocates short time for devotion. We don't. We believe that knowing and obeying God personally is one of the key to worldly success too. Therefore longer time allows us to sing songs, sometimes play games together and doing many meaningful activities too.
Longer learning hours: Time is essential in how much activities and students can do in a given period, escpecially when we want each students to experience first hand with the tools and equipment we bring to class. We have longer time in each period in comparison to most schools in Elementary grades.
Longer breaks & lunch time: Food is important, and so does reasonable free time. Longer durations allows teachers to be able to observe and guide students to use those free time through free activities around school, such as: reading, playing musical instruments, making art, doing their school projects, catching up with school learning, bonding with others through playing physical games and many more.
